The centre has on display a beautifully reproduced copy of the Book of Kells. The Book of Kells, also known as the book of Columba, is an illuminated manuscript gospel in Latin and was created in a Columban monastery around 800 AD. It is widely regarded as one of Ireland’s finest national treasures. Visitors can see for themselves the beauty of the illustrations in this book and can look in detail at some of the lettering and illustrations on a screen accompanying the book. This provides visitors with an opportunity to see and appreciate all the magnificent detail in the Book of Kells.
